She faced an early exit last year, but Fallon Sherrock means business

Published:

There have been some dominant female figures on the BDO circuit, with the likes of Trina Gulliver, Anastasia Dobromyslova and Lisa Ashton each showcasing their class at previous World Championships.

However, there’s also been a few high-profile upsets in recent times and with the standard improving all the time a new crop of stars is emerging.

And if you’re not tempted by the 13/8 on Ashton to win her third world trophy in four years, then you should certainly be looking at Fallon Sherrock as a likely outsider at 6/1.

The 2015 runner-up heads to Lakeside with a point to prove, after surprisingly losing out in the First Round last year to Ann-Louise Peters.

Already with 14 BDO titles to her name since 2011, the 22-year-old will certainly be a force to be reckoned with this year – having enjoyed a steady 2016.

And lest we forget, Sherrock was only 20 when she reached the final two years ago, the youngest female ever to do so at Lakeside.

With two more years worth of experience under her belt, the girl from Milton Keynes arguably heads into this tournament more confident than ever before.

She should come through her first match unscathed. She’s up against 66/1 outsider for the title, Olive Byamukama.

Sherrock is 1/5 to win the match, and it’s the perfect opportunity for her to get her tournament off to a flyer.
