Saturday’s Racing Tips: Don’t be afraid to back these jollies

It’s hard to know where to begin with this week’s tipping preview, such is the plethora of action coming our way from Cheltenham and Doncaster.

A total of nine races are set to be covered live on ITV4 this Saturday and once again it’s those contests that we’ll be focussing on.

Or to be more precise, the re-arranged Clarence House ChaseCleeve Hurdle and Sky Bet Chase feature our three main selections.

Some might say we’re playing it safe. But we’d prefer to think that we’re putting you on the path to bashing the bookies.

This is what we’ve gone for…

NAP – Un De Sceaux – 13:45 Cheltenham

With Gary Moore deciding not to run Ar Mad, this contest now looks to be even more of a penalty-kick for Willie Mullins’ buzzy chaser.

Winner of the Clarence House last year, Un De Sceaux should have few problems defending his crown.

His Tingle Creek win showed us that he’s got the guts to match his flair. And while Special Tiara won the Desert Orchid last time out and previous Ryanair winner Uxizandre represents a threat on his long-awaited return, the reality is nothing should get close to UDS.

Get on while there’s still a touch of value left in the price.

NB – Unowhatimeanharry – 16:00 Cheltenham

We know what you’re thinking. Another race and another favourite. But while that might seem unadventurous, we’re confident it’ll prove a wise strategy.

Long Walk Hurdle winner Unowhatimeanharry has three previous wins at Prestbury Park and he can prevail again here.

Re-opposing rival may Ballyoptic may come into this contest on better terms but we can’t see that making a considerable difference while the remainder of the field look exposed now.

Lively Longshot – Ballyboker Breeze – 15:40 Doncaster

Eight of the last 10 Sky Bet Chase winners have been priced 12/1 or shorter and we’re sticking with the principals ahead of the big race on Town Moor.

However, given the make-up of the event you’re still going to get a decent price with Ballyboker Breeze the one to be on.

Nicky Richards’ charge looks exactly the sort of progressive type who’s capable of taking the spoils with his win at Bangor-On-Dee last time out a decent piece of form.

Two from three over fences, with the other run resulting in a runner-up place, this nine-year-old looks primed for the feature contest.

And in a new twist, here are our tips for the full TV card…
