Sam Allardyce just 6/4 to sell Christian Benteke this month

Christian Benteke could be a surprise mover in the January transfer window, according to the latest odds.

Reports this week believe new Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce is looking to cash in on the Belgian striker.

It’s thought the asking fee for any Benteke deal could reach as much as £30m, and it appears Big Sam wishes to reinvest that money in other areas of the squad.

The 26-year-old only joined the Eagles last summer in a £27m deal from Liverpool, but the departure of Alan Pardew last month could spell the end of his time in south London.

Benteke has netted eight goals in 18 Premier League appearances this season, although he hasn’t scored in his last five games.

A move to the Chinese Super League is 6/1 to go ahead before January’s transfer window shuts.

But it’s West Ham who lead the list of Premier League destinations at 10/1, with the Hammers desperately seeking a new striker.

Newcastle, Stoke and Everton are also possibilities, although odds of 16/1 suggest the Hammers lead the way.

It remains to be seen where Allardyce would use the funds from a Benteke sale, but it’s likely that defenders would be high-up on the Englishman’s wishlist.

Palace sit one place and just one point above the drop zone, with over half of the campaign completed.

And Allardyce will be hoping to secure his first win as Palace boss this weekend, when he returns to former employers West Ham.

But the bookies reckon Big Sam may have to wait a little longer, with the south Londoners 5/2 outsiders against the Hammers.
