Rooney 5/4 to break Charlton’s Man United record at Stoke

Published:

Wayne Rooney is 5/4 to finally become Manchester United’s record goalscorer next weekend away at Stoke.

The striker couldn’t get the job done against Liverpool, and so Rooney remains level with Sir Bobby Charlton on 249 goals for another week at least.

The bookies make it 5/2 that the England international has to wait until the EFL Semi-Final second-leg with Hull, with 4/1 saying Rooney hits 250 in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round clash with Wigan.

It’s 7/1 that Rooney has to wait until February and the league clash with Hull, with 12s saying the 31-year-old has to wait until he faces Leicester in a months’ time.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Despite him starting on the bench we took bundles on Rooney to break the record today and the betting suggests his fans won’t have to wait long to cash in on him re-writing the record books.”
