QPR set to land the new Michael Carrick from Manchester United

Queens Park Rangers are closing in on the signing of Manchester United’s highly-rated youngster Sean Goss.
The deal, said to be worth around £500k, will see the central midfielder join up with Ian Holloway’s Londoners.
Goss has been with the Red Devils since 2012, but despite impressing regularly for the club’s youth teams, is yet to make a first-team appearance.
Injuries have played a large role in restricting Goss’ senior opportunities, with many comparing his midfield skills – and particularly passing – to that of current maestro Michael Carrick.
Born in Germany, Goss began his youth career at Exeter, before being snapped up by United just over four years ago.
The central midfielder has previously been shortlisted for the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award at Old Trafford, an accolade won by Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Marcus Rashford.
The arrivals of Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba in recent seasons, coupled with Carrick’s extensive career, has left Goss with little choice but to look elsewhere.
But now ready for first-team action, Goss is off to help the R’s, who sit 17th in the Championship, eight points above the relegation zone.
Goss might even make his QPR debut this weekend, when Holloway’s men host fellow strugglers Burton, and the bookies make the Hoops 23/20 favourites for three points.
This could be the perfect deal for player and club, with Holloway a manager known to take a chance on up-and-coming prospects.
