Odds slashed on Wayne Rooney moving to China over Merseyside

China has overtaken Merseyside as the favoured destination for Wayne Rooney when he leaves Manchester United, according to the latest odds. 

We’ve slashed the price of Rooney heading to any Chinese Super League club to a record low of 7/4 in light of reports he will head east for a £1m a week payday, pushing Everton out to 9/4 in the process.

It’s 15/8 any Major League Soccer club scuppers the Chinese Super League’s bid for Rooney, while Paris Saint-Germain are 8/1 to sign the Red Devils record-breaker.

Rooney is also quoted at 3/1 to manage any Premier League club in his career having voiced his desire to head into the dugout when he eventually hangs up his boots.

Meanwhile, it’s 10/1 he takes charge of United following his playing days.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “The odds of Rooney heading east after United have never been lower. For a while the betting favoured a romantic return to Goodison Park, but it looks like the multi-million pound lure of China could be too much to resist.”
