Normal service resumed in goalscorer market as Chelsea man leads the way

Diego Costa - Chelsea

It’s all change at the head of the Top Premier League Goal Scorer market, after Chelsea striker Diego Costa netted his 15th of the season on his return against Hull City at the weekend.

It means the 28-year-old is now the 5/2 favourite for this year’s Golden Boot.

The Spain international was linked with a big-money move to China earlier this month, and was subsequently left out of Antonio Conte’s match-day squad for the Blues’ trip to Leicester City a week ago.

But normal service was resumed on Sunday evening, with Costa back in the starting XI and on the scoresheet in a comfortable 2-0 victory over the Tigers.

That puts him level with Alexis Sanchez at the top of the charts, with the pair having already surpassed their tallies from last campaign.

The Arsenal forward is a 9/2 outsider for the individual award, something which could prove to be great value come May, given the frightening rate the Chilean is finding the net at – despite playing predominantly from out wide.

England striker Harry Kane found himself at the head of the market this time last week after scoring 11 goals in as many games for Tottenham Hotspur, which took his tally to 13 for the campaign.

However, the 23-year-old failed to find the net in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City, meaning Sanchez and Costa edged two goals clear of the Spurs man – and he’s now a 3/1 shot.

Elsewhere, our traders are refusing to rule Zlatan Ibrahimovic out of the running this season. The Manchester United forward has amazingly scored 42 per cent of his side’s goals in the league so far this season, and 3/1 says he claims the sixth Golden Boot award of his career.
