Marseille now odds-on favourites to sign Payet from West Ham

Dimitri Payet is now odds-on to rejoin Marseille this month, following the revelations from Slaven Bilic earlier this week.

The West Ham boss revealed that their talismanic winger doesn’t want to play for the club, sparking a flurry of speculation over Payet’s future.

Marseille were quickly installed as 7/2 favourites, but the French outfit are now 4/6 to re-sign the 29-year-old.

The Ligue 1 club have already had a £20m bid rejected, according to numerous reports, but it seems widely accepted they will return with an enhanced offer in the coming days.

Payet spent two seasons on the south coast, with his impressive performances and assists persuading the Hammers to spend £10m on him in 2015.

But after the heights and successes of last season, things haven’t gone well so Payet, Bilic or the club.

Manchester United were heavily linked with a move last summer, but despite opening as second favourites in the market at 5/1, Jose Mourinho’s men have drifted to 8s.

If Payet is going to remain in the Premier League, then it’s Chelsea who now lead the way at 7/1.

A move to the Chinese Super League is an 8/1 shot, as is a switch to Paris Saint-Germain.

Whether Bilic chooses to play Payet this weekend remains to be seen, but the Croatian sure could use the winger’s mercurial talents.

Crystal Palace are the visitors to London Stadium this weekend, and despite the furure over Payet this week, Bilic’s side are favourites at 11/10.
