Man City v Tottenham: Spurs to connect four wins over Citizens

Published:

History suggests more woe is in store for Pep Guardiola and co, as Manchester City host an in-form Tottenham side who have won each of the last three meetings between these sides.

Spurs have now won nine of their last ten games in all competitions – but it’s not just the points they’ve racked up which has caught the eye, but also the manner in which they’ve done so.

Mauricio Pochettino’s charges ended Chelsea’s 13-game Premier League winning streak with a 2-0 victory at White Hart Lane, while both of the Lilywhites’ last two away games have ended in 4-1 wins – at Watford and Southampton respectively.

Oh, and they trounced West Bromwich Albion 4-0 last weekend.

Those scorelines should worry a City side who were thumped 4-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday – the second time they’ve lost and failed to score in the last four outings – gifting the Toffees their heaviest league win in 46 games in the process, and consigning City to conceding four goals in a game for the third time this season.

That means it’s a real surprise to see Tottenham priced at 5/2 for victory, with City 21/20 and 12/5 on offer for the draw.

And there could be plenty of value on offer elsewhere – especially with a certain Harry Kane proving unstoppable right now. The 23-year-old has netted six times in his last four games, scoring two or more goals against both Watford and West Brom in that period.

At 11/8 to score anytime and 13/2 available for the England hitman to net twice or more at the Etihad, he’s already proving a very popular choice in the goalscoring markets.

However, while Spurs are a force to be reckoned with coming forward, they do usually concede on the road – having let one in during six of their last seven away games, so there could be plenty of value in backing Tottenham to win and Both Teams to Score at 5/1.
