Liverpool v Plymouth: Reds can’t underestimate away-day aces

Published:

Liverpool host Plymouth Argyle in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round this afternoon, with the Reds just 1/6 to vanquish their opponents. But Jurgen Klopp’s men could be in for a far tougher test than many are expecting.

The Pilgrims are away-day specialists, having come out on top in 10 of their last 14 away trips, while they’ve only failed to score twice. In fact, they’ve scored two or more goals on seven of those occasions.

For the Reds’ part, they’re in impressive form, with four wins and two draws in their last six games – so there’s little danger of them losing this tie.

However, they could have to battle back from behind to secure progression to the Fourth Round. The Reds have trailed and gone on to win three times this season, while Argyle blew a 3-1 lead against Wycombe on Boxing Day.

With 8/1 on offer for Liverpool to come from behind and win, it looks well worth a flutter.

Backing Klopp’s side to win a goal-filled game could certainly be a smart bet, especially with our fantastic price boost on this market – Liverpool to win and Both Teams to Score was 7/4 NOW 9/4.

In the goalscorer markets, there looks to be one standout bet on each side.

For the Merseyside club, it’s all about Adam Lallana. He’s found the net six times in his last nine outings for club and country, opening the scoring on three of those occasions – so the 9/2 on offer for him to score first here looks very generous.

Meanwhile at Argyle, forward Craig Tanner has been in good form of late, scoring in two of his last five outings, and it’s 9/1 he puts gets on the scoresheet anytime here.

In the match betting, Liverpool are 1/6 favourites, with 6/1 for a draw and 16s on offer for Plymouth to pull off a famous victory.
