Ladbrokes SPFL: Our top 5 bets for this fantastic weekend of action

Published:

The Ladbrokes Premiership clubs may currently be enjoying their winter break, but fear not – because there’s a whole host of fantastic games to enjoy across the Ladbrokes SPFL as 2017 really kicks into gear.

Here are our five best bets for this weekend’s flurry of action.

Ayr United v Dunfermline Athletic

After a rocky start to life in the Ladbrokes Championship, the Pars are now well into their stride, having taken an impressive 12 points from their last six games – and they currently boast the longest unbeaten streak in the division.

That’s in stark contrast to Ayr, who are winless in their last nine league outings. Add to that the fact Dunfermline have won four and drawn two of the last six meetings between this pair, and it seems pretty certain the points will be heading back to Fife.

Best Bet: Dunfermline to win @ 11/8

Morton v Dumbarton

While these two have played some good football this season, this is a fixture where goalmouth action always seems to be at a premium. Only three of the last 10 meetings have seen both teams score, with the most common scoreline in that period shared by 0-0 and 2-0.

That’s a trend our traders don’t seem to have cottoned on to, with a generous Evens on offer for at least one side to draw a blank in front of goal. Strikers’ despair could be punters’ delight at Cappielow.

Best Bet: Both Teams to Score – NO @ Evens

East Fife v Stenhousemuir

The Fifers have been a ruthless machine of late, with Barry Smith’s men winning four on the bounce in all competitions – conceding just a solitary goal in the process.

That included a 1-0 victory at Ochilview last month, where Stenny rarely threatened and were limited to a meagre two shots on target over the piece.

Having already failed to score on two occasions since mid-December, there’s plenty of value in backing Stenhousemuir to draw a third blank within a month, with three points for the Fifers looking like a banker.

Best Bet: East Fife to win to nil @ 21/10

Cowdenbeath v Berwick Rangers

Last weekend’s victory at Stirling Albion lifted the Blue Brazil up to eighth spot in Ladbrokes League Two, with Berwick replacing them as the division’s basement-dwellers.

That’s sure to be another confidence boost for the Central Park club, who are continuing to improve, with three wins in their last seven games. However, once again, they had to wait until after the break to take the lead – with five of the club’s last six goals having come in the second-half.

Best Bet: HT/FT – Draw/Cowdenbeath @ 9/2

Montrose v Elgin City

If you want goals this weekend, we suggest you head directly to Links Park, as goal-crazy Elgin City visit a Montrose side who have been scoring a fair few of their own.

City have scored an astonishing 22 goals in their last five games in all competitions (or 4.4 per game), while Montrose have scored two or more goals on three occasions since the start of December.

Oh, and the last two meetings between this pair produced five goals apiece. You get the picture…

Best Bet: Over 4.5 goals @ 3/1
