Harry Kane is the new favourite to win Premier League golden boot

Tottenham’s Harry Kane is the new favourite to win this season’s Premier League golden boot award, after his hat-trick against West Brom.

The England international’s treble lifted him onto 13 for the season, and firmly into golden boot contention.

Now just one goal behind Alexis Sanchez and Diego Costa, the bookies make Kane 5/2 favourite to outscorer everyone else and retain his crown from last season.

The turnaround is all the more remarkable considering Kane missed five games earlier in the season through injury, and in that time his odds drifted to 33/1.

But since his comeback, the 23-year-old has scored 11 goals in 11 games.

Diego Costa is up with Sanchez on 14 for the campaign so far, and the bookies make him joint second in the betting at 3/1, alongside 13-goal Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

After missing four games through suspension, Sergio Aguero is three goals off the pace, but at 10/3 plenty might still have confidence in the Man City ace.

Alexis Sanchez is the only remaining major contender – according to the odds – with the Arsenal star at 5/1.

Despite sitting top of the pile alongside Costa, it seems the bookies don’t have too much confidence in the Chilean staying at the top come May.

The best outside shots are Jermain Defoe and Romelu Lukaku.

Each is a 20/1 shot, with the Sunderland striker on 12 and the Everton hitman one behind on 11.

Given how little goals are coming from other players in those teams, they could be well worth an each-way punt.

But in his current form, few will be able to keep up with Kane and Tottenham.
