FA Cup hammering sees Bilic tumble in Prem sack race

The Premier League sack race has seen a major odds shift this weekend, despite no league football taking place!

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is just 11/4 to be the next top-tier gaffer sent pack, after the Irons’ woeful display in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round.

Hammered 5-0 at home by Manchester City on Friday night, Bilic’s odds came tumbling in from a relatively safe 10/1.

And it also means that Watford coach Walter Mazzarri – previously 8/11 to go next – has now drifted to 6/4.

Hull, Crystal Palace and Swansea – twice – have already parted ways with managers this season.

Sunderland’s David Moyes has also been given a reprieve in the betting, with the Scot growing from 8/1 second favourite to 10/1 and fourth position in the market.

That’s because another man whose odds have come in is Claude Puel.

The Southampton chief saw Norwich force a Replay with a stoppage-time equaliser, and three straight league defeats has seen the Frenchman come in from 16/1 to 7s.

And with the Saints set to play Liverpool in the EFL Cup semi-finals, Puel’s odds could change again in the coming days.

But that’s of no concern to Bilic of West Ham, and it’s reported in the press this weekend that the Croatian may only have two games to save his job.

The Hammers are desperately trying to sign a striker this month, but have given up hope on re-signing former hero Jermain Defoe.

Brentford’s Scott Hogan looks to be their latest target, but the Championship outfit are holding out for a deal nearer £15m.

And Hull’s Robert Snodrgass is another man Bilic is hoping can save his side’s season, although the Tigers have rejected West Ham’s opening £3m bid.

Fail to sign someone soon however, and the Hammers may also have to start looking for a new manager too.
