Crystal Palace lead Chelsea in race to snap up Tottenham ace

Crystal Palace are now clear favourites to snap up Ben Davies if he leaves Tottenham this month, with the Eagles now just 2/1 to secure the 23-year-old’s services before the window closes.

With The Sun reporting that Sam Allardyce is ready to launch a £10m bid for the left-back, Palace fans could potentially see their defensive issues beginning to abate, following just one clean sheet in their 21 Premier League games this season.

That firm interest from the south London club has seen odds of a move fall from 8/1 to just 2/1, and the price could quickly tumble further as and when a bid from Palace is confirmed.

However, they’re far from the only club interested in the Wales international, who caught the eye for the Dragons at Euro 2016 but has featured just seven times in the Premier League this season, and hasn’t started a league game for over three months.

Chelsea are next in the running, with Antonio Conte 6/1 to add the Neath native to his ranks, while Manchester City (7/1) and near-neighbours Man United (8/1) are also outsiders for his signature.

For the Blues’ part, Conte seems keen to continue revamping the ageing defence he inherited at Stamford Bridge, while the Citizens are in need of a new left-back following Gael Clichy’s dismal displays.

As for Spurs, there’s little doubt Mauricio Pochettino could be persuaded to sell Davies, with the former Swansea City man showing no sign of displacing the outstanding Danny Rose from the starting XI at the Lane. And there’s little doubt the Welsh full-back would relish some more game-time.

Next up for Palace is the visit of Everton on Saturday, with 2/1 for Big Sam’s men to secure victory against the Toffees.
