Costa to follow Oscar to China? Chelsea striker linked with £80m move

Diego Costa could be the latest Premier League player to join the Chinese Super League, according to the latest reports.

The Chelsea striker saw former team-mate Oscar head East last month for a whopping £60m, and now the press believe Costa could be the subject of another mega-money move.

Costa revealed over the weekend how close he came to leaving Stamford Bridge last summer.

Tianjin Quanjian are the club in question, and the deal would be the biggest yet by the rapidly expanding league.

And should the move go through, it would make Costa the third Chelsea player to make a direct switch, following Oscar and Ramires.

The Spaniard has been in sensational form this season, scoring 14 times.

And with five assists, no player has directly contributed to more Premier League goals this season.

Bu aside from those tidy numbers, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is unlikely to sell his star man just yet.

With Michy Batshuayi the club’s only other recognised centre-forward, the Blues have few alternative options should Costa move on.

So a summer switch seems more likely, and by that time it appears Costa and Chelsea will be Premier League champions once more.

Enjoying a record-equalling 13-game winning streak, the west London outfit will look to make that 14 when they visit Tottenham on Wednesday.

But with Mauricio Pochettino’s men on a decent run of their own, Chelsea will need Costa to be at his best if they’re to prove victorious at 17/10.
