Celtic v Hearts: Hoops can smash unbeaten domestic record this weekend

Few would have backed against Celtic lifting the Ladbrokes Premiership trophy this year. But the manner in which they’ve gone about their business is what has impressed us most.

The Hoops have won 25 and drawn one of 26 league games under Brendan Rodgers. And their victory over St Johnstone last time out meant Rodgers’ men equalled a record set by the Lisbon Lions over 50 years ago.

But Sunday’s clash with Hearts provides the Parkhead outfit with the perfect opportunity to smash that record – against a side 30 points behind them in the table and winless against them since 2011.

Naturally, 16 wins on the bounce means Celtic rightly head into this fixture as 3/10 favourites.

But how do we find better value from this game?

We’d certainly be tempted by the 17/20 on Celtic/Celtic in the Half Time/Full Time market.

Of their 10 league home games this season we’ve paid out on that bet eight times.

We’ve also paid out on Scott Sinclair to score at any time on 11 previous occasions in the league this season. For that reason alone, the 17/20 for the former Manchester City man to find the net is too good to ignore.

We’re not ruling out a Hearts goal though.

The Jam Tarts have found the net in five of their last eight league meetings with the Hoops.

With that in mind, there’s great value in the 8/11 on offer for both teams to score, although there’s arguably better value still in the 6/4 for Celtic to win with Hearts finding the net.

Hearts have won just one of their last six Ladbrokes Premiership matches, while Celtic have scored 11 in that time.

Averaging just shy of two goals a game since mid-December, and taking everything else on board, our top bet for this clash has to be the 4/5 for Celtic to score under 2.5 goals.
