Carroll and Olsson among Clement’s first targets as Swansea boss

New Swansea manager Paul Clement is lining up moves for Tottenham’s Tom Carroll and Norwich City’s Martin Olsson.

Clement, who took charge of the Welsh club following the sacking of Bob Bradley, has just under three weeks to bring in reinforcements.

The Swans sit second bottom in the Premier League, and have won just four games this season.

With those victories coming against Sunderland, Burnley and Crystal Palace, the Swans face a very real prospect of relegation.

Carroll is believed to be available for £8m, and the 24-year-old midfielder impressed during a loan spell at the Liberty Stadium two seasons ago.

First-team opportunities remain few and far between at White Hart Lane, so a Swansea move makes plenty of sense for both parties.

While Carroll brings youth and enthusiasm, Olsson will bring experience.

The defender has played 250 times in a career which began at Blackburn Rovers.

With the Swans currently possessing the worst defence in the Premier League, Clement could use Olsson’s experience of over 100 appearances in the top flight.

Olsson’s contract expires in the summer, so the Canaries may well choose to sell up now.

Clement has already made one headline move behind the scenes, adding former Chelsea legend Claude Makelele to the Swansea coaching staff.

After a 2-0 defeat to Hull in his first outing as Swans boss, Clement will take the reins in the Premier League for the first time this weekend.

But in a daunting debut, Arsenal are the visitors and the bookies make Swansea 5/1 shots for a much-needed three points.
