Bournemouth v Arsenal: Gunners to continue resurgence versus Cherries

Published:

After a December blip with defeats to Everton and Man City, Arsenal have responded by winning their last two games. The Gunners get their 2017 underway at Bournemouth, where they will be hoping to pick up three points.

But it won’t be easy. Both Tottenham and Liverpool have been halted by Eddie Howe’s men, who are on course for a remarkable mid-table finish this season.

Arsenal are odds-on at 4/5 for victory at Dean Court however, with the hosts 16/5.

The Dorset club may have won five of their nine home games this term, but after conceding eight times on the south coast in their last three, Arsene Wenger will be confident of his side notching a couple of goals.

Bournemouth have been inconsistent at home, with those results versus Spurs and Liverpool coupled with defeats to Sunderland and Southampton.

It’s 12/5 the Gunners win and both teams score in a repeat of November’s clash at the Emirates,

And since Bournemouth’s promotion into the top-flight in 2015, Arsenal have won all three meetings by two goals.

That could tempt many into backing the Gunners on the -1 handicap at 21/10.

Olivier Giroud stunned us all on New Year’s Day with a sublime scorpion kick, and the Frenchman is scoring a goal every 70 minutes in the Premier League this season.

The 30-year-old is 4/1 to score the opening goal once again.

Alexis Sanchez is 7/2 favourite to net first while Alex Iwobi is 8/1 following his effort in the win over Crystal Palace.

And should this be the match where we see the return of Danny Welbeck, you can get 5/1 on the former Manchester United man breaking the deadlock, or 9/5 anytime.

Callum Wilson leads the Cherries’ charge, and with five goals already this term, plenty will fancy the forward at 7/1 to score first.
