Bookies make Silva nailed on to be next Hull City boss

The Hull City board are taking little time to act following the dismissal of Mike Phelan last night, with Marco Silva seemingly certain to be his replacement at odds of 1/8.
Portuguese gaffer Silva spent three hugely successful years with homeland outfit Estoril, winning promotion to the Primeira Liga before taking the club into Europe for the first time in their history, with back to back appearances in the Europa League group stages.
That was followed by stints with Sporting Lisbon and Olympiacos, with the talented manager lifting silverware with both club – despite spending only one season with each.
His availability has seen previously odds-on Gary Rowett fall down the pecking order in the race for the Hull job, with the former Birmingham City boss now 7/2 for the role.
Alan Pardew is up next at 10/1, with 12/1 on offer for the experienced Harry Redknapp to head to East Yorkshire.
There’s also a raft of outsiders priced at 16s, including Ryan Giggs, Tim Sherwood and former England boss Roy Hodgson.
A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “It’s been a difficult start to life back in the Premier League for the Tigers, but it seems there could now be a Silva lining for Hull fans.”
With Hull moving quickly behind the scenes, the new man could well be in the dugout for their Emirates FA Cup meeting with Swansea City on Saturday – where the Tigers are 7/5 to enjoy victory.
