Adele backers could say ‘Hello’ to a tidy win in 2017 Grammys
Ten-time Grammy winner Adele looks set to pick up another gong at the prestigious awards – this time in the Record of the Year category, with her smash-hit single ‘Hello’ the hot favourite to win the gong for 2017.
The highly-rated songwriter saw the soul-influenced piano ballad shift over 9.8 million copies (and counting), while the 28-year-old’s passionate vocal delivery also powered it to over 1.8 billion views on YouTube. Yes, you read that right…
And this memorable ballad proved equally popular with the critics, receiving rave reviews in global media, as did the accompanying album 25. And its huge exposure and memorable refrain have seen the Londoner take up a position at just 1/2 to be chosen as the best song.
Next up in the Record of the Year market is Beyonce’s ‘Formation’, with 2/1 for ‘Queen Bey’ to finally win this prize, having been nominated without success in four previous years – most recently in 2010.
Rihanna’s ‘Work’ was a fantastic blend of dancehall and R&B, and the Barbadian star and collaborator Drake are priced at 10s to pip the favourites to this award.
Emerging Danish pop band Lukas Graham hit the airwaves with the wistful ‘7 Years’ – also priced at 10/1 for this prize – while Twenty One Pilots’ ‘Stressed Out’ rounds out the betting at 20/1.
