Aberdeen v Dundee: Dons set for fifth straight win over the Dee

Published:

Aberdeen are set to climb into second place in the Ladbrokes Premiership on Friday night as they host a Dundee side who have taken just one point from their last six visits to Pittodrie.

The Dons have had the upper hand in this fixture for some time, winning each of the last four encounters, including a 3-1 victory at Dens Park back in September. And the form book points to them making it five victories in succession against the Dee.

Derek McInnes’ side have recorded three wins and one draw in their last four games, scoring 12 goals in the process. And they’ve been impressive on their own patch all season, with nine wins, four draws and two defeats – both to Celtic.

By contrast, the Dark Blues have been unhappy travellers, losing seven of their last eight on the road, and failing to register a goal in half of those.

That means Aberdeen more than justify their short price of 4/11 for victory, with 15/2 for a Dundee win and 15/4 on offer for the draw.

One man who always finds the net in this fixture is Adam Rooney. He’s scored in five of the last six meetings between the pair, so the 5/6 on offer for him to net anytime is already proving popular – especially after four goals in his last four outings.

Meanwhile, Niall McGinn could be worth a bet at 17/10 to score anytime, having tucked away five in his last seven outings, including a brace against Stranraer on Saturday.

And with the Dons’ key men in top goalscoring form and the Dee struggling to net on the road, there could be value in backing McInnes’ men to notch up a fourth 4-0 win of the season at odds of 14/1.
