Zorya v Man United: Red Devils on course to win to nil

Published:

Manchester United may have unwillingly gained the moniker of ‘draw specialists’ in the Premier League, with five of their last eight domestic games ending level. But all the signs suggest they’ll get back to winning ways at Zorya in this crucial Europa League tie.

Jose Mourinho’s men need just a point to ensure progression to the last 32 of the competition, following three wins in the group stage already. But they can do more than that against such limited opposition tonight.

Zorya have scored a paltry two goals in Group A – the competition’s joint-lowest total – and are out of the running for the knockout stage, with just a couple of points to show for their efforts.

However, they haven’t conceded more than twice in any of those games, which means United are unlikely to rack up another four-goal haul to match the one they dished out to Feyenoord in their last UEL game.

But Yuriy Vernydub’s side are up against a team with an decent record on the road this season.

Their heavy defeat at Chelsea has seen United’s solid away form wrongly overshadowed. They’ve won five of ten on the road during the campaign, losing just twice – with a trio of 3-1 wins along the way, coming against Swansea City, AFC Bournemouth and Northampton Town respectively.

Even with Zorya’s decent defence, United look good value to score three again here, though the 7/1 for a 3-0 away win looks a better call than another 3-1, with the Ukrainians unlikely to find the net.

That means the 10/11 for Mourinho’s men to win to nil looks like easy money, while 15/8 says Paul Pogba builds on his total of two UEL goals this season by scoring anytime.

In the match betting, Man United are 4/11, with Zorya 9/1 outsiders and the draw priced at 4/1.
