Partick Thistle v Celtic: Get on Hoops to win high-scoring game

Published:

Firhill has long been a happy hunting ground for Celtic, with the Hoops having won on their last 12 visits to Partick Thistle, with an incredible 22 games in a row now going the way of Brendan Rodgers’ charges.

And with Celtic boasting an incredible 12 wins and one draw from their 13 league games so far, they look a sure thing to continue that record, especially with the table-toppers having averaged a whopping three goals per game in the Ladbrokes Championship so far.

By contrast, their hosts are enduring a difficult time, taking just a single point from the last four outings. However, Alan Archibald’s men can be relied on to find the net, with the Jags getting on the scoresheet in seven of their last eight matches.

While the Bhoys still look the best value in the match betting at 1/4 – with Thistle 11/1 and the draw priced at 5s –, the visitors’ short price means there’s better value to be had elsewhere.

For starters, the 7/4 for Celtic to win and both teams to score looks extremely generous, especially with the Jags chalking up a consolation goal in a 2-1 defeat the last time the pair met.

Elsewhere, with eight of the Bhoys’ last 14 Ladbrokes Premiership games having produced four or more goals, the 6/5 for this game to produce over 3.5 goals looks a smart selection.

For Thistle’s part, they’ve frequently been the last scorers in games this season. And one man who’s chipped in with a few late goals has been Chris Erskine. He’s temptingly priced to be the last goalscorer in this clash at 14/1 – especially with two prior career goals against Celtic.

A fellow midfielder impressing on the other half of this clash is James Forrest, who is enjoying a new lease of life under Rodgers, with six goals in all competitions this season.

It’s 13/8 that Forrest scores and Celtic win, while 11/2 says he opens the scoring.
