Mancini now just 3/1 to take over from Pardew at Crystal Palace

It’s been a dreadful few weeks for Alan Pardew and Crystal Palace. You’d have to go back to September to find the last time they won a match, and they somehow squandered a 4-3 lead in the dying minutes against Swansea last week to lose 5-4.

That basement battle defeat was the Eagles’ sixth in a row in the Premier League, their worst run for three years.

And while Palace may be outside of the relegation zone as things stand on goal difference, that could all change should they lose at home to Southampton this weekend.

In fact, should the visitors grab all three points, we could well be looking at our second top-flight casualty of the season.

Right now, Pardew is the 4/6 favourite to be the next Prem boss sent packing, and it’s likely those odds will take another tumble in the next few days unless the 55-year-old can lead his side to victory for just the fourth time this season.

What makes it worse for Pards is that there are a whole host of names queuing up for the Selhurst Park hot-seat, and they’re names which are just as, if not more, capable than himself.

Leading the way in the market is Sam Allardyce at 4/7. The former West Ham boss has bags of experience and is reportedly keen on a return to the Premier League at the earliest opportunity.

But a name that may surprise Eagles fans is Roberto Mancini. The title-winning boss has thrown his hat into the ring in the last few hours, and as a result is now just 3/1 to get the job.

That price means he’s second-favourite right now, having been out of a job since the start of the August.

Perhaps that means he’s been weighing up his options in the last few months, and it appears the Palace gig looks most appealing to the former Inter boss.

Wales manager Chris Coleman is also in the running at 5/1, but it’s hard to see him parting way with the Dragons any time soon, especially given their Euro 2016 exploits.

So who do supporters want in charge? Would Mancini be your first choice, or does Pardew deserve more time to turn things around?
