Joshua v Klitschko: AJ odds-on favourite for April’s Wembley bout

Published:

Anthony Joshua. 18 fights, 18 wins, 18 knockouts. And after downing Eric Molina in three rounds AJ finally has the chance he’s been waiting for – a date with Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley stadium in April.

A few quietly believed Molina could last longer than most of AJ’s opponents, but as soon as the American stepped into the ring it became obvious that this bout would be over much sooner rather than later.

The Watford ace completed the job in just three rounds, and immediately after the fight Eddie Hearn gleefully announced Joshua would finally meet his – potential – match in Klitschko.

And at 4/6, the bookies make Joshua favourite – although the odds reflect the step up in opponent given the 27-year-old was 1/33 last night.

The younger Klitschko is 6/5, while a draw can be backed at 33s.

The fight will take place on April 29, and will be Klitschko’s first fight since a surprise loss to Tyson Fury 13 months ago in Dusseldorf.

This bout will be for the vacant WBA (Super) and IBF heavyweight titles.
