ICYMI: Muirhead at the double as Hearts beat Rangers

Published:
Robbie Neilson - Hearts

Robbie Muirhead scored twice as Hearts saw off Rangers at Tynecastle last night. The victory means the Jambos leapfrog Mark Warburton’s side into second-place in the Ladbrokes Premiership table and it was a win they thoroughly deserved.

The visitors struggled to match the high tempo of their hosts and were on the back foot for much of the contest.

Hearts made their authority pay when Robbie Muirhead scored his first goal for the club on 44 minutes, converting a cross from the impressive Bjorn Johnsen.

Rangers thought they’d found a way back into the match when Joe Dodoo volleyed in but the linesman’s late flag eventually ruled the effort out owing to Harry Forrester being offside when the ball was struck.

And that’s as good as it got for the Gers who fell further behind when Muirhead got on the end of a Jamie Walker cross in the second-half.

Should, as expected, this be Robbie Neilson’s final game in charge of the Edinburgh club before departing for MK Dons, it’ll be a fitting end to a fine tenure.

Here’s the best of the action…
