Hull v Man City: Pep’s men can bump up goal tally at the KCOM

Published:

Pep Guardiola will be taking his Manchester City side to the KCOM Stadium next Monday for the first ever Boxing Day fixture of his short relatively short but hugely successful managerial career.

And with the Tigers winning just one of their last 12 Premier League games, the visitors will be confident of grabbing all three points for the third time in as many league outings.

At 3/10, it’s clear the value doesn’t lie with just backing Pep’s men to win this one. So what are the best alternatives?

Ladbrokes News runs you through our top three bets for this game, with an optimistic scorecast thrown in at the end…

Don’t back against the hosts scoring

They may be struggling to get points on the board, and are the lowest scoring side in the division – but don’t write off Mike Phelan’s men in front of goal.

They’ve scored in eight of their last 10 matches against the Citizens, and face arguably the shakiest back-line the Manchester outfit have had in years.

It’s almost inevitable that the visitors will find the net, having done so in 24 of Guardiola’s 27 games in charge, so the value could be in the 4/5 on offer for both teams to score.

Kelechi could start

Such is the physical demand on any side throughout the festive period, it’s not uncommon for managers to chop and change their sides, so as to keep key players fresh.

And with Sergio Aguero still facing one more game out through suspension, Kelechi Iheanacho could start for the Citizens in his absence.

The Nigeria international netted against Hull the last time these two sides met in 2015.

And he already has three goals to his name in the league this season despite finding first-team opportunities hard to come by.

Don’t be surprised if he starts on Boxing Day. If he does, we’d be leaning towards the 10/3 on him to score first.

Away day? Not a problem

Only Liverpol and Arsenal have scored more goals away from home than Man City so far this season, with the Sky Blues netting 19 goals in just eight games on their travels.

And they’re one of just six sides that’ve scored more on the road than they have at home.

Meanwhile, only one team have conceded more than Hull at home this season (15) – you do the maths.

We’re fancying Hull’s net to bulge on several occasions, and 11/4 says the visitors net over 3.5 goals at the KCOM.

So what do we get when we put all of the above together?

The answer is simple – Man City to win 4-1 with Iheanacho to score first.

We’re paying 35/1 for that outcome, just in case you were interested…
