How Twitter reacted to Chelsea putting Man City in their place

Antonio Conte’s tactical masterclass helped Chelsea record a decisive victory over Manchester City and in turn cement his team’s lead at the top of the Premier League table.

The Pensioners saw off City 3-1 at the Etihad with the result itself just one of many headlines to emerge from a blood and thunder affair.

Gary Cahill’s own goal gave the hosts a first-half lead but Chelsea hit back with their blistering counter-attacks offering Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard the opportunities to turn the game around.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the action, starting off with Michael Ballack’s mid-game celebrations…

Not everyone was happy though. City fans were livid with referee Anthony Taylor owing to a number of perceived injustices.

Despite some questionable calls, you can’t argue with the fact that Conte’s Chelsea look very impressive.

Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa put in particularly eye-catching performances.

But there wasn’t much love for City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo. A few others copped it too.

Sergio Aguero’s late sending-off for a horror challenge on David Luiz rules him out for four games while Fernandinho was also given his marching orders for an altercation with Cesc Fabregas. Not a good day for Pep Guardiola and team.

There you have it.

Chelsea go four points clear at the top of the league while City are left to lick some pretty big wounds.
