Hamilton v Rangers: Excellent value in backing honours-even again

Published:

Hamilton Academical ensured Rangers’ return to the Ladbrokes Premiership was a rocky one, taking a point from Ibrox on the opening day. And there’s plenty of reason to back this pair to share the spoils again on Friday night.

Martin Canning’s side have proved difficult to break down this season, conceding just eight goals in as many games – and showed they can keep out the league’s top sides, with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen in late October.

However, they’re unlikely to cause the Gers huge problems at the other end. Just three goals in four games have seen low-scoring draws become their specialty, with only Ali Crawford registering more than three league goals this season.

With the midfield magician having scored in eight different matches this season, including three of his last five, the 11/4 for Crawford to score anytime looks like excellent value.

For Rangers’ part, they have won four of their last five, but it’s not been hugely convincing by any stretch. Three of those wins have come by a single goal, with injury-time needed to eke out wins over both Dundee and Partick Thistle.

But like Hamilton, the Gers’ robust defence have secured three clean sheets in the last seven games, so while Crawford may prove too hot to handle, it’s unlikely we’ll see them ship too many goals at New Douglas Park.

With that in mind, backing a repeat of the 1-1 draw we saw in August looks like stellar value at 13/2, while under 2.5 goals seems a safe selection at 5/6.

Meanwhile, the score draw is priced at 4/1 and could prove very popular, with Hamilton having enjoyed four score draws in their last five outings.

In the match betting, it’s the 3/1 for the draw catching our eye, while Accies are 19/4 and Rangers 4/7 shots for victory.
