Ex-Derby boss backed from nowhere into 11/4 for vacant Swansea post

It’s a market that’s already seen three favourites in the last 24 hours. But that could be set to change to five very soon, as money continues to come in for Paul Clement to take over the vacant Swansea post.
In fact, he wasn’t even in the running prior to this afternoon, and was immediately installed as an 11/4 shot. But Chris Coleman remains at the head of the market, with 2/1 saying the Wales manager takes over the reins at the Liberty Stadium.
Clement, currently assistant manager of Bayern Munich, has just eight months of managerial experience to speak of – that coming with Derby County between June 2015 and February of this year.
But it’s thought the Swansea board are interested in offering him another chance to take sole charge of a club, although there’ll certainly be question marks around his suitability.
They’d be the same kind of questions that were asked of the Swans’ last appointment, too. It’s fair to say eyebrows were raised upon Bob Bradley’s appointment, and the American boss did very little to prove his doubters wrong during the 11 games he spent with the club.
Meanwhile, Ryan Giggs is just behind Clement in the market at 3/1, while Gary Rowett is next in the running at 9/2.
Remarkably, despite supporters desperately crying out for a man to come in with experience of dealing with relegation battles, Coleman is the only man in the top four in this market with any background in Premier League management – and even that was almost 10 years ago.
Whoever takes over the job will have it all to do in the second-half of the season to keep the Swans afloat.
Right now the club are already four points off safety, and have lost 10 of their last 15 league games.
So who do fans want to see in charge? Is the experienced Coleman your man, or should Huw Jenkins go for another left-field option?
