Could former Man United ace be heading to Chelsea in January move?

He may have been on Manchester United’s books for six years, but it’s fair to say Javier Hernandez didn’t get the game-time many felt he deserved.

However, since moving to Bayer Leverkusen, the striker has enjoyed the form of his life, and is starting to attract interest from the Premier League again.

While a move back to Old Trafford may not be on the cards, Hernandez may well find himself in a Chelsea shirt before the season is out.

With Antonio Conte relying heavily on Diego Costa and seemingly not too keen on summer signing Michy Batshuayi, there’s every chance the Italian boss will be on the hunt for another forward when the winter transfer window opens next week.

And ‘Chicarito’, is thought to be high on his list of potential targets.

But what will the Mexico international give the Blues?

Quite simply, he’ll score goals.

His first season in the Bundesliga brought about a return of 17 league striker from 28 games, while he’s grabbed seven in all; competitions already this year.

But that natural goalscoring instinct is hardly news to us. Despite being somewhat a bit-part player during his time with the Red Devils, Hernandez managed to reach double figures in the top-flight on three separate occasions.

And aged just 28, there’s every chance the best is yet to come from the striker.

How much will he cost?

Well, Leverkusen don’t need to sell him any time soon, having bought him last year for £10m on a contract which doesn’t run out until 2018.

And transfermarkt.co.uk value the forward at around £21.25m, a figure which sounds about right, all things considered.

Lest we forget, Chelsea’s transfer kitty has just been given a healthy boost, following the departure of Oscar to Shanghai SIPG for roughly £60m. So even if the German outfit were to demand more that Hernandez’s estimated worth, the Blues would hardly be breaking the bank.

Of course, signing the former Man United man would all but end Batshuayi’s time at Stamford Bridge, as it’s likely the Belgium international would fall even further down the pecking order.

All in all, it makes for a potentially hectic month ahead for the Premier League leaders!
