Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal hardly showed us anything to suggest they could challenge the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea for the Premier League title in an uninspiring November.

But just three days into December, they’ve finally pulled a performance out of the bag that every Gooner has been waiting to see.

The 5-1 scoreline away at West Ham actually flattered the hosts, for it could, and perhaps should, have been much more, but for the heroics of Darren Randolph in the Hammers’ goal.

An Alexis Sanchez hat-trick put him at the top of the scoring charts, level with Chelsea’s Diego Costa on 11 goals from 14 games.

But the goals are coming from all around the park, with Mesut Ozil netting his eighth of the season and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain his sixth in all competitions on Saturday evening.

In fact, the Gunners are now the highest scoring side in the Premier League, with 33 goals to their name so far. That could all change this afternoon, however, when Liverpool visit Bournemouth.

But, as things stand, there’s plenty to suggest this Arsenal side can challenge for the title.

A huge problem for this side just a few seasons ago was that they couldn’t get the job done against the bigger sides in the division.

But they’ve shown time and time again in the last 12 months that they’re capable of taking points off their title rivals, having defeated the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City with relative ease since the start of last season.

This could be a critical month in Arsenal’s campaign, with tricky fixtures away at Everton and Man City to come.

But if Wenger’s men can come out of it with their unbeaten record since the opening day still intact, you can expect to see their current odds of 13/2 for the title take another tumble.

What do Gooners think? Could this be Arsenal’s year? What do they need to do to stand any chance of winning the league?
