Arsenal draw Bayern Munich in UCL and see their odds drift to 25/1

Published:

It looks as though all their hard work in the Champions League so far could count for nothing, as Arsenal inevitably drew probably the toughest team possible in Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich this morning.

And as a result of that outcome, the Gunners have seen their odds of lifting the trophy for the first time in their history drift to 25/1.

They wouldn’t have had it much easier if they’d have finished in second-place in Group A though, as runners-up Paris Saint-Germain were drawn against Barcelona, who will be looking to bring the cup back to the Camp Nou after a year of it proudly being shown off in Real Madrid’s trophy cabinet.

And Zinedine Zidane’s side will also fancy their chances of progressing to the quarter-finals, after being drawn against Napoli – who currently sit eight points behind Serie A leaders, Juventus.

Meanwhile, the Old Lady have been handed the tricky test of overcoming FC Porto, who announced themselves in the final group game of the competition, defeating Premier League Champions, Leicester City, 5-0.

And Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes will fancy their chances of progressing to the last-eight after drawing Sevilla, who haven’t reached this stage of the Champions League since the 2009-10 campaign.

Manchester City were incredibly close to making last year’s final, losing 1-0 on aggregate to eventual winners, Real Madrid.

And they’ll be looking to go even further this year under Pep Guardiola, who has never failed to reach a Champions League semi-final in his managerial career.

Up next for them in this competition is Monaco, but having finished as runners-up in their group, they’ll have to play their second-leg away in France, something which could prove to be a decisive factor.

But it’s the Citizens who are fancied to go furthest of the remaining three English clubs at Evens, while the Foxes are next in the running in that market at 11/5, with Arsenal just behind at 9/4.

And we’re offering odds of 4/9 for Guardiola’s men to qualify, with 11/10 and 17/10 available for Leicester and Arsenal to do the same.
