Traders make it 33/1 for Tottenham Hotspur to ‘do an Arsenal’

This looks set to be one of the closest and most wide-open title races we’ve seen in the Premier League era, with five sides currently in with a genuine chance of topping the table come next May.
But of those teams, only one of them remains unbeaten after 12 games, and 33/1 says Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur can go the whole season without losing a single match – something which has only been done once before, by Spurs’ closest rivals, Arsenal.
Although our traders wouldn’t have been forced to open a market for a potential ‘Invincible 2.0’ had it not been for Harry Kane’s heroics last night against West Ham.
Spurs were 2-1 down as we approached the 89th minute, but a quick-fire double from the England international ensured that Spurs not only extended their unbeaten run to 12 in the league, but also ended their eight-game wait for a victory in all competitions.
Granted, they’re yet to show the form of potential champions, but there’s no doubting their ability to keep opponents at bay. And with Kane seemingly fully fit after a spell out on the sidelines, fans of the north London outfit will believe anything is possible.
We’re also offering odds of 5/2 for Spurs not to lose a game between now and Christmas, and that has to be a tempting bet considering some of the fixtures they’ve got lined up in the next month.
Their biggest test will be next week, away at Chelsea. But if they come through that with their unbeaten record still intact, they face the likes of Swansea City, Hull City and Burnley at home before Boxing Day, meaning punters could quite easily cash in on that 5/2.
It’s a big ask for this Spurs side to go a whole campaign without losing a game. But supporters won’t need reminding that it has been done before, by Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal side back in the 2003-04 season.
After 12 games that year, the Gunners had 30 points to their name. Tottenham are only six points off that total this time around, and Pochettino will take one game at a time in his quest to reclaim the long-awaited bragging rights in north London.
So what do fans think? Can Poch’s men do it? And even if his side could go a whole season without losing a game, would that necessarily guarantee them their first Premier League title?
