Tottenham odds-on to make European return to the Lane

Tottenham are set to cut short their Wembley adventure and bring European football back to White Hart Lane, according to Ladbrokes.

Following their Champions League exit this week, the bookies make it 1/3 that Mauricio Pochettino’s men play any Europa League home games this season in N17.

Defeat to Monaco ensured Spurs cannot now progress in the Champions League, while they must avoid defeat to CSKA Moscow in their final game – at Wembley – to ensure a place in the Europa League.

Ladbrokes News’ Richard Marsh said: “Spurs may yet miss out on European football beyond Christmas, but if they do succeed, few will be surprised to see them back at the Lane on Thursday nights.”

But before they worry about their European situation, Pochettino and his men face a return to Stamford Bridge, scene of the infamous Battle of the Bridge in April.

With just one win in nine – and no win in west London since 1990 – the bookies make Spurs 4/1 outsiders to beat a Chelsea side on a six-game winning streak.

Antonio Conte has seen his side keep six successive clean sheets too, while the Blues have racked up 17 goals.

At 7/10 the hosts are odds-on favourites to ensure Tottenham’s European woes linger into domestic affairs too.
