Tottenham odds-on for an early Champions League exit

Published:

Tottenham are odds-on to exit this season’s Champions League at the first hurdle, according to Ladbrokes.

Following their 1-0 loss at Wembley to Bayer Leverkusen last night, the bookies make it 4/9 that Mauricio Pochettino’s men exit the competition before Christmas.

Spurs are 6/1 to finish bottom of Group E, with 8/1 on offer for the London outfit to lose their remaining two group games.

The result also extended Spurs’ winless run to six games – and the bookies go 20/1 the run is doubled to 12 fixtures.

And hopes of a first major trophy since 2008 have taken a hit too, with 1/8 saying White Hart Lane won’t be celebrating silverware this season.

The odds on Sunday’s north London derby have also seen a shift following the midweek action, with Arsenal now odds-on at 10/11, while Tottenham have drifted to 3/1.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Spurs will have to watch Arsenal lead London’s charge alone in the Champions League knockout stages after Christmas.

“The wheels have really come off for Pochettino’s boys ahead of Sunday’s north London derby.”
