They briefly considered a move for him in the summer, but now it seems Tottenham want to bring in Real Madrid’s Isco in a sensational January loan deal.

Boss Mauricio Pochettino is a known admirer of the Spaniard, and few would deny the talented midfielder would fit in seamlessly at White Hart Lane.

The Premier League outfit may have their work cut out, with Isco enjoying a run of five starts in Los Blancos’ last six domestic fixtures.

However, the Spanish international barely featured in the first six weeks of the campaign, and still hasn’t played a single minute of Champions League football this term under Zinedine Zidane.

This, plus a contract which expires in 2018 – one which Real have yet to offer an extension to – has ensured speculation continues  to circle the former Malaga ace over his future at the Bernabeu.

It’s certainly a tantalising prospect to the Tottenham faithful, who could see Isco line up alongside Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela in an enthralling trio behind Harry Kane.

A January arrival could also hand Spurs a timely boost in their quest to land a first league title since 1961.

Draws with West Brom, Bournemouth and Leicester have seen the north London outfit slip three points off the pace. But with Harry Kane absent for the last five games, that’s an impressive situation to be in.

Pochettino will have to put his Isco pursuit to one side this week, as his team take to European duties.

Spurs will be hoping to enhance their chances of reaching the Champions League knockout stages this week, when they host Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley.

The bookies make Tottenham 20/21 favourites to claim their second win of Group E.
