This year’s Champions League winner will be a Spanish side
Manchester City may have dished out a lesson to Barcelona last night, but a Spanish side will still be claiming this season’s Champions League.
That’s the view of today’s @Ladbrokes Twitter poll, which asked you to vote for where you think this season’s Cup winners will come from.
We pitched Spain alongside England and Germany, plus an ‘Other’ section which produced one vote each for Portugal and Belgium.
But it was the Spaniards – boasting Barca plus Real Madrid and Atletico or course – which dominated today’s poll with 61 per cent.
Given that a Spanish side has won the tournament in each of the last three seasons – and six of the last 11 – it’s little surprise they topped today’s vote.
England, perhaps boosted by City’s and Arsenal’s winning displays last night, came second in the poll, with Germany – led by Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund left in third.
Despite losing to their old boss Pep Guardiola last night, Barca remain the bookies’ favourites to win this season’s showpiece in Cardiff at 3/1.
But according to the odds, and today’s poll, the Champions League will be heading back to Spain next May.
