The statistics which show Arsenal will be just fine in December

They may be three points off the top of the Premier League table after 13 games this season, but Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal can close that gap between now and the end of December – a month in which they just love to win football matches.
Yep, the omens suggest the Gunners will be in for a successful end to the year, a year in which no other top-flight club can match them for points won.
Of their 33 games between January and now, they’ve picked up an impressive 70 points, winning 21 games and scoring a staggering 62 goals – almost two-per-game.
And this is familiar territory for Arsenal in recent years. In fact, Wenger’s men can make it two years on the bounce where they’ve topped the calendar-year table, after picking up a mammoth 81 points from 38 league games in 2015.
They’re on course to better that this year, too, with five games still to play before New Year’s Day.
Without question, their biggest match between now and then comes on December 18 against Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola’s men may be two points ahead of Arsenal in the league, but it’s the Gunner’s who are a point ahead since the turn of the year.
And Wenger’s side have proved they’re capable of mixing it with the big boys in the league in recent years, having not lost against the Citizens in their last six outings in all competitions.
Despite November statistically being Arsenal’s worst month under the French boss, they tend to do well over the festive period, winning 15 of their last 23 fixtures in December, losing just four.
And optimistic Gooners can get odds of 16/1 on their side topping the table on Christmas Day.
So can Arsenal carry their fine form in 2016 into the final month of the year? If they do, there’s every chance they’ll find themselves at the top of the table come January 1. Five sides in that coveted position over the last seven years have gone on to win the league.
The two times it didn’t happen? Arsenal were top.
