The best bets to be on in a truly mega Saturday of football

Published:

A quick scan across the weekend’s fixture list results in a salivating line-up of matches on Saturday.

Manchester United will take on Arsenal at lunch-time, before Tottenham host West Ham in the 5.30 game.

You’ll need your channel-hopping skills at the ready though, with the biggest game in the Bundesliga –  Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund – taking place at the same time.

And before you start thinking about where you’re going out on Saturday night, Atletico and Real compete in the first Madrid derby of the season at 7.45.

So, to get you ready for what should be a quartet of stunning contests, we’re run the rule over each…

Manchester United v Arsenal – 12:30pm

Jose Mourinho and Manchester United bounced back with victory over Swansea last time out, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic is suspended.

Arsene Wenger has never beaten Jose Mourinho, but the Gunners are unbeaten in 16 games and many will fancy them at 9/5.

Both teams to score has happened in eight of the last 11 meetings, while 5/2 says acrimonious rivals Mourinho and Arsene Wenger do not shake hands at full-time.

Best Bet: Both teams to score @ 4/6

Tottenham v West Ham – 5:30pm

Harry Kane should be fully fit here, as he looks to lead Spurs to a first win in five league games (seven in all competitions) against a West Ham side who could use this match as a catalyst for revival.

Spurs have been notoriously hard to break down however, and their six goals conceded is by far the fewest in the Premier League.

And with nine of 11 games for Mauricio Pochettino’s men seeing under 2.5 goals, and the same applying for West Ham’s last five this will be a match of quality rather than quantity.

Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals @ 8/11

Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich – 5:30pm

Bayern are unbeaten this term with seven wins from 10, but with Dortmund likewise undefeated at home, something may well give at the Westfalenstadion.

However, Dortmund have won only one of their last five, so it could be they who crumble. Plus, Bayern are unbeaten in their last four visits..

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has netted three of BvB’s last five against their great rivals however, and with 11 games in just nine Bundesliga games this term, is the hosts’ best hope.

Best Bet: Bayern to win and both teams to score @ 11/4

Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid – 7:45pm

Defeat here would all but end Atletico’s La Liga hopes, having already failed to win five times.

They remain a force under Diego Simeone at the Vicente Calderon however, with just four goals conceded.

Real have won four on the spin but three clean sheets tells us where their weaknesses lie.

Each of the last five meetings have seen under 2.5 goals, and we can expect another tight, tense but enthralling affair to round out a scintillating Saturday.

Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals @ 17/20
