Odds suggest Roy Hodgson is being considered for Crystal Palace post

Crystal Palace’s season continues to go from bad to worse, and it’s now six defeats in a row in the Premier League for Alan Pardew’s men. With form like that, it’s no surprise that the 55-year-old is favourite at 4/6 in the Sack Race.
And with Pards clinging onto his job, traders have already priced up Roy Hodgson as a potential replacement, making the former Liverpool boss a 6/1 shot for the Selhurst Park role.
The 69-year-old certainly doesn’t lack experience, having managed 16 different teams across eight countries, while also managing four national sides in a career stretching back 40 years.
Hodgson was agonisingly close to achieving the unthinkable with Fulham back in 2010, guiding them to the Europa League final against all the odds, before losing out in extra-time to Atletico Madrid.
But it’s his knowledge of the Premier League that’ll interest the Crystal Palace board most.
Granted, he didn’t have the best of times at Anfield, but either side of that short reign on Merseyside were spells at the Cottagers and West Brom, where he stabilised both outfits in the top-flight.
Hodgson guided Fulham to safety midway through the 2007-08 campaign, only to do exactly the same with the Baggies in 2010-11. And on both occasions, he led each club to a top-half finish the following year.
That kind of stability would be welcomed at Selhurst Park right now, with the Eagles currently sitting outside of the relegation zone on goal difference.
There’s no doubting the potential that’s in the side right now, but perhaps a new man is needed to take Palace forward.
And at 6/1, Hodgson may well be that man.
