Odds suggest Chelsea man may well be heading to Man United

As if Jose Mourinho doesn’t already have a selection headache on his hands every week, the Portuguese is reportedly keen on adding Chelsea playmaker Willian to his ranks in January.

Thought to be available for around £25m, the Brazil international looks set to reunite with his former boss at Old Trafford, with 9/2 saying he makes the switch in the next transfer window.

Failing that, it’s 3/1 for him to make a move next summer, while 5/2 says Man United will be the 28-year-old’s next destination.

While a move to the Red Devils would be considered a strange one on face value, given that the midfielder is currently sitting at the top of the table with Chelsea, in truth it wouldn’t really be a surprise.

Willian was one of the first players Mourinho signed for the Blues on his return to Stamford Bridge in 2013, and the 53-year-old boss certainly knows how to get the best out of him, with the Brazilian playing a key role in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign two years ago.

But where would he fit into Jose’s plans?

Predominantly a winger, it’s thought Willian would slot straight into a position that’s currently being occupied by Jesse Lingard out on the right. But the Premier League winner’s versatility allows him to play out on the opposite flank as well as through the middle in a number 10 role.

Of course, were a deal to go ahead, summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan would undoubtedly fall even further down the pecking order, meaning an Old Trafford exit looks increasingly likely for the former Borussia Dortmund man.

What do supporters think? Would you welcome Willian to the Theatre of Dreams? Do Chelsea fans want to see him leave?
