Middlesbrough v Chelsea: Blues can bring up a Magnificent Seven

Published:
Diego Costa - Chelsea

Middlesbrough may have developed a canny habit of holding the big boys recently but expect it to be a case of ‘third time unlucky’ for the hosts when Chelsea roll into town.

Aitor Karanka’s Boro have held both Arsenal and Manchester City in the last few weeks.

However, while those performances will give the Teessiders hope of notching a third straight impressive result on the third anniversary of their manager’s appointment, we’re not prepared to stick our necks on the line and back them.

After all, Chelsea have won five league games in a row since their capitulation at Arsenal, scoring 16 goals with none in reply.

Oh, and add in the fact that the visitors have won their last six without conceding against their Super Sunday opponents and you can start to see a pretty strong case building.

It’s 11/10 for Chelsea to keep a clean sheet at The Riverside while we’re offering 11/8 for the Blues to win to nil.

Meanwhile, everyone’s favourite firebrand Diego Costa has been involved in more Premier League goals than any other player this season as well as scoring in four of his side’s five away league matches this season.

The Spaniard is 14/5 to score first while it’s 11/8 for Costa to net in an away win. If the scoring starts with Diego it may end with him too with Boro conceding just one goal in their last three league matches.

A 1-0 win for Antonio Conte’s side is 11/2 while it’s 5/2 for Chelsea to win by one goal.
