Man United’s Europa League hopes hanging by a thread with 2 games left

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United head into Thursday night’s match against Feyenoord knowing a defeat could potentially see them exit the competition after just five games.
Their fate could be sealed if the Dutch outfit win and table-toppers Fenerbahce take all three points from bottom-side Zorya Luhansk.
But the Red Devils will be confident of securing a result against Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men, who’ve won just two of their last 10 matches in England.
However, it was Feyenoord who came out on top the last time these two sides met, back in September, in De Kuip. Tonny Vilhena grabbed the only goal of the game on that day, and 28/1 says he opens the scoring again.
There may well be some value in the Evens on offer for both teams finding the net. Granted, United haven’t been the most prolific of sides in front of goal, but given the importance of this one, it’s hard to see them not scoring.
But they’ll be without the centre-back pairing of Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling, who are currently injured, meaning a makeshift back-four should be relatively easy for the Eredivisie league-leaders to break down at least once.
It’s not as if Mourinho has taken this competition lightly, either. The United boss has fielded the likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David de Gea consistently over the last four games, yet the Premier League side still find themselves in third-place in Group A.
None of Feyenoord’s matches up to this point have seen over 2.5 goals scored in them, meaning it’d hardly be a surprise if we saw less than three goals (Evens) scored at Old Trafford for the seventh time this season.
However, on a positive note for United, they’re currently enjoying a 13-game unbeaten run at home in Europe, winning 10 of those games. And that explains why the home side head into this tie as the 4/11 favourites to grab a crucial three points.
It’s a huge game for Feyenoord though, as they know a win will see them through to the knockout stages, meaning there’s certainly value to be had in the 17/2 about them nicking a win.
But all things considered, we’re fancying the draw here (4/1). United have been unable to see games out of late, while Feyenoord will feel confident of scoring at least one, and they’ll certainly be happy to take a point back home with them.
