Malaga’s teenage star set to be on everyone’s radar next summer

Published:

Malaga could be set for a very busy summer, thanks to the explosive arrival of Javier Ontiveros to the first-team set-up.

The 19-year-old made his senior debut exactly 12 months ago, and has been slowly brought into the Malaga first-team.

But it’s the winger’s last two appearances which have set tongues wagging.

Ontiveros was plunged in at the deep end a week ago, when boas Juande Ramos handed the Marbella native his first ever start.

The opposition? Barcelona.

But that didn’t faze the teenager, who won plenty of plaudits with a very mature performance as Albicelestes held the Catalan giants to a 0-0 draw at the Rosadela.

And this weekend Ontiveros showcased his prodigious talent again, with a wondrous 25-yard-goal to hand his side the winner in a 4-3 thriller with Deportivo.

It’ll be hard for Ramos to leave the exciting forward out from here on in, so we can expect to hear plenty more of Malaga’s new talent during the remainder of the campaign.

Should he continue to steal the headlines, it won’t be long until Ontiveros is linked with Europe’s top brass.

Malaga however will be keen to tie down their latest protege, whose current contract only runs until 2018.

Javier Ontiveros. Remember the name.
