King’s Royal set to put in an elite performance on Channel 4

Once again the Flat and the Jumps are dovetailing to perfect effect with this Saturday’s Channel 4 Racing card throwing up the best of both disciplines.

Aintree, Doncaster and Wincanton will be sharing the spotlight with the Elite Hurdle, Badger Ales Trophy Chase and the November Handicap your feature contests.

Here are our best bets…

NAP – Sceau Royal – 14:10 Wincanton

Local powerhouse Paul Nicholls is always one to fear having fielded four of the last seven winners, including last year’s hero, Irving.

However, we’re swerving the Ditcheat saddler on this occasion with Alan King’s Sceau Royal our big fancy.

The talented four-year old notched a fifth win from 10 contests over hurdles when romping home by 11 lengths at Cheltenham last time out.

And given how visually appealing that display was, we can’t see the likes of North Hill Harvey and Nicholls’ Zubayr getting the better of him in Somerset.

NB – The Young Master– 15:20 Wincanton

The last two winners of the Badger Ales Trophy have come at double-figure odds but we can’t see an outsider getting in the mix this time around.

Southfield Theatre was behind Sandown winner The Young Master back in April and it’s the latter who makes the most appeal to us.

The ‘winner’ of this contest in 2014, only to be disqualified for not holding a valid entry, Neil Mulholland’s charge can once again do the business with Sam Waley-Cohen onboard.

Lively Longshot – Fabricate – 15:35 Doncaster

Younger, less exposed horses have held sway in the November Handicap so it’s no surprise to see the likes of Cape Cova being well-backed.

John Gosden’s three-year-old was a course and distance winner last time out and has only got seven runs under Rules to his name.

However, recent Leicester handicap winner Fabricate also has the profile to suggest he’ll go well.

The four-year-old saw off the re-opposing Tawdeea on that occasion and we’re backing him to overcome the draw and take the spoils.
