Here’s why Leicester are great value to win all their UCL group games

Be honest, if we’d have asked you at the start of the season whether or not you thought Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City side would be sitting at the top of their Champions League group after their opening three games in the competition, what would you have said?

Granted, they were dealt a somewhat generous draw in Group G, avoiding the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich thanks to their top seed status heading into the competition.

But even so, three wins from as many games in their first ever appearance in Europe’s biggest club competition is simply remarkable.

However, it’s by no means lucky.

And that’s why we reckon there’s some serious value to be had in the 16/1 for the Foxes to win their remaining three group games.

So here’s why

First of all, their position in the Premier League table (11^th) tells you all you need to know about where Ranieri’s priorities are this year.

They’ve already lost more games in the top-flight after 10 games this year than they did in the whole of last campaign.

However, their record in Europe tells a completely different story: played three, won three, scored five, conceded none.

While predicting Leicester’s results in the league is proving a difficult task this year, there’s no way you’d back anything but a victory for Jamie Vardy and co in Europe.

Ranieri is striking fear into future opponents

Leicester are one of four teams yet to concede in this Champions League campaign, while only Atletico Madrid and Barcelona can boast a 100 per cent record up to this point with the Foxes.

And even if they are as good as through to the knockout stages already, maintaining this kind of form will certainly strike fear into any future opponent in this competition.

The East Midlands outfit proved time and time again last campaign that building momentum is as, if not more, important than boasting individuals of quality.

So let’s say Leicester win against FC Copenhagen this week and they make it to the last-16. Taking their foot off the pedal in their two remaining games would spark a drop in momentum, potentially giving some of the continent’s bigger clubs confidence heading into a future clash with the Premier League champions.
