Hearts v Rangers: In-form Gers won’t have it easy at Tynecastle

Published:

There may be just one midweek game in the Ladbrokes Premiership, but there’s plenty on the line as Hearts host Rangers.

Mark Warburton’s men haven’t lost since September, and could really put themselves in second place comfort with victory at Tynecastle.

But Hearts know that three points for them would see the Jam Tarts move into second and above the Glasgow side on goal difference.

The bookies make Hearts 9/5, and Rangers at 7/5, but it’s the 12/5 on a draw which may appeal most.

Hearts haven’t been beaten at home since the opening day of the season, and even then it took a late strike from Scott Sinclair to hand Celtic the win.

Four wins and two draws have pleased the home crowd since then, however, with Motherwell downed 3-0 last time out.

Rangers have been solid if unspectacular on their travels this term, winning three of their seven games away from Ibrox.

Each of those victories have come by single goal margins, all against sides who currently sit in the bottom half.

Warburton has also seen his side concede in six of their seven games on the road, which lends itself to the 4/6 on both teams to score. Both teams have netted in three of the last four meetings too.

Hearts have every reason to be confident here, and many may be tempted by the Evens available on the hosts in the Draw No Bet market.

Joe Garner and Martyn Waghorn lead the betting for first goalscorer at 11/2 apiece, but Jamie Walker is the in-form hitman ahead of this clash.

With three goals in his last two appearances – and six for the season – the Hearts man looks well priced at 8s to net first and 13/5 anytime.
