Ed Balls: I can’t win Strictly, but can I get to Blackpool?

He’s living proof that politicians can be loved after all, and this weekend Ed Balls looks to continue his Strictly Come Dancing adventure.
The former Labour MP has become the darling of a nation with his Saturday evening moves on the hit BBC One show.
Speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes News at the Ladbrokes USA Presidential Election debate this week, Balls gave his insight into the race to win the Glitterball Trophy…
“Can I win Strictly? No. But the question is, can I get to Blackpool?”
“That’s in two weeks’ time, and at the beginning of the series I think getting to Blackpool seemed to be too difficult for me. But it’s where my partner Katya (Jones) has won numerous international and British championships, so it would be nice to get there.”
“Winning the show is going to be so hard, because Strictly is obviously an entertainment show, but as it goes on people are more and more going to focus on quality.”
“And the one thing I’m not delivering on is quality dancing compared to the other dancers.”
“But the big thing that’s surprised me is that I’ve been favourite to go out almost every week, and clearly that’s been wrong because I’ve stayed here now for seven weeks!”
Ed may be ruling himself out of the running, but who does the Norwich City chairman reckon might win the Glitterball?
“I think that’s really hard to know at this stage. We all get on really well so it’s a bit mean to start choosing between them!
“You’ve got to say that Danny Mac is a beautiful dancer, and Ore (Oduba) has really, really improved and has shown us he’s very good during the series.”
“I think Louise Redknapp is actually very good and has a lot of support. The thing is you’ve got to keep trying to get better and improve every week.”
“I think the public reward the people who they enjoy watching and who continue to improve, but I think there may be a cap on how much I can improve which may knock me out eventually!”
Ed will be hoping to win the great British public over with the Quickstep this weekend, to the tune of Help! By the Beatles.
Unfortunately the former Shadow Chancellor is favourite to be kicked off the show this weekend (Sorry Ed!) at 2/1.
It’s 12/1 Ed reaches the final, while it’s 33/1 that any judge dishes out a 10 for one of Ed’s routines.
