Football Blogging Awards

We’re now just a couple of weeks away from finding out which of our finalists will be named the Football Blogging Award’s Best Gambling Blog, as sponsored by Ladbrokes News. So to give you some insight into the day-to-day lives of each of our nominees, we caught up with them to ask them about all things blogging.

Today is the turn of TheODDSBible!

Ladbrokes News: Describe a day in the life of an ODDSBible blogger

We start the day by looking through all of the latest sport news and submissions from our audience, searching for betting news and stories to write about or create viral content around. We also measure the performance of our articles, content and tips from the previous day.

Then we’ll take a look at all of the sport on that day, keeping an eye out for any bets that immediately stick out. After that, it’s a couple of hours of trawling through stats, trends and news, looking for the more obscure selections that we might have missed.

The rest of the day is spent putting the aforementioned articles, viral posts and tips together into a schedule for our various social channels.

LN: Proudest blogging moment to date?

I’d have to say winning this award last year would be up there among our proudest moments. It’s always nice for the team to get a bit of recognition for their hard work!

LN: What makes you guys stand out from your competition?

The understanding of our audience, what they want and how we can innovate in order to reach them in new and exciting ways.

For example, earlier this year we were told we couldn’t grow a gambling community on Instagram as no betting brands, tipsters, or bookmakers have ever built up a presence on there. Here we are 10 months later with almost 400,000 followers who engage with us several times per day.

LN: Best tip ever?

I can’t think of one particular tip off the top of my head, but our tipsters recently went on a run of 24 consecutive winners with prices ranging between 1/2 and 7/1. We had a lot of very happy followers that week!

LN: If you had a £100 free bet on any Premier League outright market this season, what would you back?

I can’t remember where I saw it, but Paul Pogba to score under 8.5 league goals was one of the best markets I stumbled across earlier this season. That lad couldn’t finish a Happy Meal.

LN: Which team always lets you down?

Inter Milan.

Always Inter Milan.

Do not bet on Inter Milan.

Ever.

LN: Biggest near-miss?

I was one goal away from landing a 250/1 request-a-bet. The thing that hurt most is that all it needed was a second half Real Madrid goal, and this came at a time when they were spanking teams 4-0 and 5-0, week in week out.

LN: Do you have any luck on other sports?

Our tipsters cover horse racing, tennis, golf, darts, boxing, basketball, American football, MMA… you name it!

We’re better on some than others, but we don’t tend to do too badly on anything.

LN: What advice would you give to new punters?
